Bogotá was founded the 6th
of August, by the Spanish conqueror, Gonzalo Jimenez De Quesada. The new city
became the vice-regal capital of New Granada. In 1717, it was colonized by
Simon Bolivar and in 1819 it turn into the capital of the independent nation of
Great Colombia.
The city grew slowly
because Bogotá's people wished to preserve their old culture.
